Through a special agreement with the band, K-TIMe will video live-stream (and audio broadcast on KTIM-FM 89.1!) The Original Triumphs’ last performance from Swiss Alp Dance Hall Saturday night!!!

As you may know, the Original Triumphs – a local Legend in these parts and official Texas Treasure after more than 60 years of making music together – are retiring after this Saturday night’s annual Valentine’s Dance and fundraiser for St. Rose of Lima Catholic School in Schulenburg. This final show has been sold out for months.

Recently, Steve Ray from the Texas Music Office issued a Letter of Congratulations to the band from Governor Abbott, recognizing their achievements in music throughout their storied career. During its heyday, the band packed dance halls between Houston and San Antonio, engaged in storied battle of the bands with Roy Head’s band The Traits, and scored a hit record with a cover of the mournful Hank Williams ballad “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry,” sung by the group’s then lead vocalist, B.J. Thomas. Formed in Rosenberg by Lamar Consolidated High School students, the band, named after the motorcycle, expanded over the years to include as many as seven to nine members.

Can you tell we’re excited? This is amazing news! Don’t Miss Saturday night’s finale!
